Positives of Mahindra XUV 3XO
- Solid build quality with proper SUV seating stance and bonnet visibility, even without seat height adjustment. A 5.6 ft tall person can fit in well, and the car’s stability at speeds above 110 kmph is confidence-proving, as the steering response is solid.
- The NVH levels are well contained, and the suspension setup is well-balanced and sturdy. 3XO can handle rumble strips and speed bumps with ease.
- Mahindra has provided torque converters in 3XO’s Petrol turbo engines, as TCs are more refined and smoother than AMTs.
- Value for money, Mahindra has offered an overall SUV with performance and safety features under a 10 Lakh Budget with first-in-segment MTV-CL (Multi-Tuned Valve Concentric Land) damper technology for improved quietness, comfort, and handling.
- In terms of breaking, Mahindra offers front and rear disc brakes for 3XO, which the competition lacks.
Negatives of Mahindra XUV 3XO
- Mileage of the Turbo Petrol engine with the torque converter in city traffic is lower than that of the competition (Brezza). Also, Mahindra service points have adequate technicians, and the availability of spares is hectic at times.
- Glitches in the infotainment system while driving are annoying at times. Sometimes you have to disconnect the battery to restart the system. Hope Mahindra rolls out a firmware update to fix it.
- Rear boot space and Rear passenger thigh support are adequate compared to Nexon. Only 4 adults can sit comfortably on a long trip.
- Wear and tear of the clutch is quite early, under 20000 km itself, the clutch play increase and the power delivery to the wheels is not linear. Mahindra has to rework the clutch for the manual variants of 3XO since 230 Nm (Petrol) and 300 Nm (Diesel) torque require better clutch plates.
- Mahindra should give a Torque converter for the diesel variant since the AMT is lagging and jerky at times. With 300 Nm of torque, AMT makes the engine scream at lower rpms, which is very uncomfortable and annoying while overtaking on highways.
Customer Feedback of Mahindra XUV 3XO
- Driving the 3XO on highways is a real pleasure, with 1300 kg kerb weight, the car feels planted to the road, combined with the solid steering response.
- Waiting period for the lower variants of 3XO is more than 3 months. Some dealers willfully delay and force the customer to choose the top or mid variants for quick delivery.
- White fabric interiors and seat covers need more maintenance, and also, the matte finish on the front grill is a scratch magnet.
- The 10.25-inch display with Dolby Atmos audio is an absolute pleasure for long drives.
- The diesel manual engine is the most economical variant among all other variants, with 20.10 kmpl on highways and 16 to 17 kmpl in the city.
Customer Complaints of Mahindra XUV 3XO
- The Turbo Petrol 3 cylinder engine vibrates more at higher rpm, even though Mahindra has damped the engine bay well, the damage to the engine mounts is permanent.
- The stiff suspension and body roll at turns are quite annoying and are uncomfortable for elderly passengers.
- Infotainment malfunction: Many customers have updated their firmware, but the issue exists. The display completely goes black while driving.
- Battery discharge is more than normal while the car is parked for a long time. Many customers have reported battery dead and starter motor issues after 4 to 7 days of inactivity. This is because Mahindra uses more complex software and electronics, and the calibration of the power supply to the components is not efficient.
- A few Mahindra dealers restrict the buyers from doing PDI before delivery. Also, the after-sales service is disappointing, with more cars coming in, the technicians are very few to handle them.
- DPF issues in diesel Amt are more frequent compared to the manuals due to certain sensor recalibration, which delays the regeneration.
