Positives of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

1. The K15C engine is a masterpiece in terms of reliability and maintenance. At speeds between 80 and 100 kmph, this engine is capable of delivering 20 kmpl mileage on the highway and 23 to 25 kmpl on CNG mode, which is quite unexpected for an MPV.

2. Value for money Ertiga’s LXi variant at just  Rs 8.8 Lakh ex-showroom is the most VFM MPV with a 4 cylinder engine.

3. Ertiga’s third row comfort with thigh support is somewhat better than the Renault Triber under the 10 lakh budget.

4. Minimal maintenance due to the naturally aspirated engine and availability of Maruti service stations and spares pan India has made Ertiga the go-to choice for every Indian joint family household, and also for the cab industry.

5. Ertiga is the only MPV that offers a Torque converter with paddle shifters under 14 lakh on-road price.

Negatives of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

1. Usage of hard plastics in dashboard and fragile door knobs still makes Ertiga a utility option, not a comfort or luxury-oriented MPV like the Kia Carens, which offers more features from ventilated seats to 360 camera. In terms of features, Ertiga is still in the stone age compared to Kia.

2. Though Ertiga is a reliable car, the build quality in certain areas is not promising, like the rattling noise inside the cabin after 10k Kms, and the outside noise penetration inside the cabin is also annoying at times.

3. Steering response on the highway is adequate, and at speeds above 100 kmph, the spongy brakes and the soft suspension are not confidence-provoking. Ertiga is a city dweller, not a highway material.

4. Maruti should have given a twin-cylinder CNG setup for better utilisation of the boot space.

5. Maruti Suzuki should provide 16-inch wheels for Ertiga, as even the Zxi plus top-of-the-line variant also gets 15-inch wheels, which degrades the drive quality at times.

Customer Feedback

1. The body kits provided by Maruti Suzuki are very costly for the Ertiga, as many customers opt for aftermarket body kits to upgrade.
2. Perfect car for a joint family who are on a reasonable budget to own a car.
3. Many customers prefer the Vxi variant with a torque converter as the most VFM for cities.
4. Suzuki should improve the steering response in Ertiga since the majority of the buyers prefer to use it as an alternative to Innova on the highways.
5. None of the variants in Ertiga has a sunroof, even Brezza gets a sunroof at its top variant. Many customers are waiting for the facelift launch of the Ertiga.

Customer Complaints

1. Roadside noise and tyre noise penetration inside the cabin are annoying. Many customers opt for aftermarket damping for outside noise reduction and change to soft tyres to eliminate the tyre noise.

2. Body roll at turns is quite evident, which is uncomfortable during long drives.

3. Infotainment system and speakers, even in the top ZXi Plus variant, are not top-notch. The bass effect of the speakers is dull and needs better tuning.

4. Ground clearance of Ertiga is 185 mm at times; it’s hard to drive in hills and rugged terrain with a fully loaded setup. Even the competition Kia Carens offers 195 mm.

5. Even the top ZXi Plus variant is lacking features like 360 camera, ADAS, sunroof, HUD, etc., which the present generation customers prefer more.

6. Maruti service cost after 20k km is quite high compared to Renault and Kia. Recently, many customers have complained about the delay in the delivery period of the Ertiga, especially for the Lxi and Zxi variants, where the waiting period is more than 60 days.
