Positives of Maruti Suzuki Victoris
The naturally aspirated K15C engine mated to a 6 speed Torque converter is a gem in terms of reliability, mileage and maintenance.
5 star ncap safety rating and level 2 ADAS with lane assist have surely turned the tables for Suzuki in terms of safety metrics in India.
Kerb weight of the car is more than 1300 kg, so the stability of the car on highways is quite amazing compared to typical Maruti Suzuki which are suited for the cities.
Rear seat legroom and passenger comfort at the rear have improved.
Panoramic sunroof, TPMS, ventilated seats and 10.25 display with Dolby Atmos in this segment, especially by Maruti Suzuki with a 5-star rated body shell, has set the standards high.
Negatives of Maruti Suzuki Victoris
Overpriced top variants in which most of the features are given, starting from ZXI Plus, ZXI (0), etc., surely not a VFM product.
Dashboard plastics in lower variants are not up to the mark.
The steering response and feedback are still the same, plain and boring, similar to Brezza, unlike the Germans, which are driver-specific.
K15C engine is designed for the mid-range punch as the engine feels stress-free between 80 and 100 kmph. But post 110 kmph, the engine feels sluggish, and with CNG mode, the torque is also adequate in highway.
Even though the body shell has obtained 5 stars in ncap but, the sheet metal and body side panels have more flex compared to other category cars with 5 stars in ncap.
Customer Feedback
Victoris has a total of 35+ variants to choose from, which itself is confusing for a first-time car buyer.
The Hybrid unit with an electric motor and battery pack in the VXI variant costs 20 lakh on road, which is quite high as the competition offers diesel engines with AMT under 15 lakh.
The CNG variant should have given a twin-cylinder setup to increase the boot space.
Many customers opt for Brezza VXI variant with a torque converter as it’s the best pick under 14 lakh instead of going for Victoris LXI with fewer features and a manual gearbox.
Customer Complaints
“A” pillar at the driver’s side makes it quite difficult to see at turns in hill stations.
AC cooling effect and ventilated seats take more time than normal to cool off.
Indicator and lighting control sticks under the steering wheel are very fragile.
Outside noise penetration is quite evident, and tyre noise in highway at speeds above 80 kmph is annoying.
Rattling sound inside the cabin at speed breakers and rumble strips is unpleasant, and the suspension setup is more on the harder side.
The omission of a spare tyre, even on non-CNG and non-hybrid variants, is not justifiable for a car that costs 14 lakh on-road from its lower variant.
