Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its popular premium hatchback, the Baleno, in India on September 5, 2026. The upcoming model will receive a series of exterior and interior updates as the company looks to strengthen the Baleno’s position in the highly competitive premium hatchback segment.
The current-generation Baleno was introduced in 2022, and the facelift comes nearly four years later. While Maruti Suzuki is expected to retain the car’s basic platform and powertrain options, the updated model is likely to receive noticeable styling changes and additional equipment.

The facelifted Baleno is expected with a 1.2 Litre Z12E 3-cylinder Engine. It also comes with an automatic CNG option with the Z12E engine.
Revised Front-End Design
The biggest changes on the 2026 Baleno facelift are expected at the front. Spy images of test vehicles have indicated a redesigned grille featuring a horizontal chrome element connecting the headlamp units.
The front bumper is also expected to be revised. The headlamp design and the characteristic LED daytime running lights are likely to remain broadly similar, although the final design will be confirmed at the launch.
The side profile is expected to remain largely unchanged, with the facelift potentially gaining a new alloy-wheel design. At the rear, a redesigned bumper could be introduced, while the existing wraparound LED tail-lamps, roof spoiler and rear wiper are expected to continue.
Interior Could Get More Features
Inside the cabin, the overall dashboard layout is expected to remain similar to the current Baleno. The car is likely to continue with its 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel and existing cabin layout.
However, Maruti Suzuki could introduce new upholstery, updated trim finishes and additional convenience features. A single-pane electric sunroof and ambient lighting are among the features expected to make their way onto the facelifted Baleno, although these details have not yet been officially confirmed.
Existing features such as automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, electrically adjustable ORVMs and an auto-dimming IRVM are expected to continue.
Expected Price
The current Baleno is priced from around Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant. With the addition of new styling and features, the facelifted model is expected to command a modest premium over the outgoing version.
The Baleno facelift will continue to compete with models such as the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza in India’s premium hatchback market.
With its September 5 launch scheduled just ahead of the festive season, the updated Baleno could give Maruti Suzuki an important boost in the premium hatchback segment.
